Learn the profession, not just the syllabus
Most IT apprenticeships put you on a service desk and hope you pick the rest up. Ours don't. From the first month you'll be working on live client environments alongside senior engineers, with the time, tools and supervision to do it properly. You earn while you learn, and you finish with experience employers actually recognise.
We're a small team of specialists, which is the point. There's no queue of graduates ahead of you and no intake cohort to get lost in. Your questions get answered by the person who knows the answer, including our founder Ryan Mangan, a Microsoft MVP, Chartered Fellow of BCS and published author.

Three routes in
Cyber Security
Defending real businesses: identity, email, endpoints, firewalls and the controls that decide whether an attack lands.
Cyber security is the fastest-growing part of what we do, because it is the part clients can no longer treat as optional. You will learn it the way it is actually practised: not as a set of products, but as a set of decisions about who can reach what, and how you would know if something went wrong.
- Identity and access: multi-factor authentication, Conditional Access and why MFA alone is no longer enough
- Email security, phishing analysis and how business email compromise really works
- Endpoint protection, EDR and reading an alert well enough to know if it matters
- Firewall deployment, rule management and monitoring
- The five Cyber Essentials controls, and what evidence an assessor actually wants
- Incident response: containing something without destroying the evidence
Suits: People who are curious about how things break and who enjoy puzzles where the answer is in the evidence rather than the manual.
Microsoft & AI
The Microsoft cloud end to end, and the AI tooling now being built on top of it: Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, devices and Copilot.
Almost everything we deliver runs on the Microsoft cloud, and AI is now part of that rather than a separate topic. This pathway covers both, because the people who will be most valuable in five years are the ones who understand the platform underneath the AI, not just the prompt on top of it.

Development
Building and modernising the software, automation and pipelines that remove manual work for clients and for us.
Our development work is rarely greenfield. It is usually about modernising something a business depends on, or automating a process that has been done by hand for years. That is a good place to learn, because you see the consequences of your code quickly and from real users.

Professional recognition that travels with you
Our apprenticeships follow BCS-approved apprenticeship standards, so your training is measured against the profession rather than against us. Every member of the Systech team is a member of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and we fund that membership as standard.
On successful completion you'll be eligible to apply for professional membership of BCS and for RITTech, the register for IT technicians. RITTech is awarded by BCS, not by us, and requires membership at Associate (AMBCS) grade or above. It lets you use the designation after your name and appear on the public register: independent proof of your competence that stays with you for the rest of your career.
Properly equipped, properly supported
We empower our apprentices with the same current technology and tooling the rest of the team uses. You will not be handed a decade-old laptop and a folder of PDFs. You'll work in the Microsoft cloud, on modern devices, in real tenants, with the automation and AI tooling professionals actually use day to day.
You'll also get funded Microsoft certifications with dedicated study time, a named person responsible for your progress, and honest feedback. If something isn't working, we would rather talk about it early than let you find out at an assessment.
Apprenticeship questions
Do I need experience or qualifications to apply?
No prior IT experience is required. Apprenticeship standards have their own entry requirements around English and maths, which the training provider confirms, but we are far more interested in whether you are curious, reliable and willing to be taught. Plenty of good engineers started with a genuine interest and nothing else.
Where would I be based?
Our office is Unit 21, Brough Business Centre, Baffin Way, Brough, HU15 1YU, about ten miles west of Hull and easily reachable from Hessle, Beverley, Cottingham, Goole and the wider East Riding. Apprentices spend real time in the office, because that is where you learn fastest early on, alongside the remote and hybrid working the rest of the team uses.
Which apprenticeship standard would I be on?
It depends on the pathway and the level that fits you. Our pathways map to BCS-approved standards including Cyber Security Technician (Level 3), Cyber Security Technologist (Level 4), Information Communications Technician (Level 3), IT Solutions Technician (Level 3), Network Engineer (Level 4), Data Technician (Level 3), Software Development Technician (Level 3) and Software Developer (Level 4). We will talk it through properly before anything is agreed.
Will I get a qualification at the end?
Yes. Do you fund certifications as well?
Yes. We fund Microsoft certifications and give dedicated time to study, for apprentices as well as for the rest of the team. We also fund BCS membership as standard. Certifications sit alongside the apprenticeship rather than replacing it.
Will I be doing real work or shadowing?
Real work, supervised. You will be on live client environments from early on, with the supervision that makes that safe for you and for the client. Shadowing has its place in the first few weeks, but nobody learns to diagnose a fault by watching someone else do it.
What happens after the apprenticeship?
The intention is that you stay and keep growing with us. We are a small team, so there is no queue to get past before you take on serious work, and the certifications, professional registration and portfolio you build are yours regardless of what you choose to do next.
